MAGNIFICAT
The Song of Mary
The following Canticle is sung or said, all standing
My soul magnifies the Lord, *
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
For he has regarded *
the lowliness of his handmaiden.
For behold, from now on, *
all generations will call me blessed;
For he that is mighty has magnified me, *
and holy is his Name.
And his mercy is on those who fear him, *
throughout all generations.
He has shown the strength of his arm; *
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, *
and has exalted the humble and meek.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and the rich he has sent empty away.
He, remembering his mercy, has helped his servant Israel, *
as he promised to our fathers, Abraham and his seed for ever.
LUKE 1:46-55
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Phos Hilaron (BCP 44)
O gladsome light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven, *
O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light, *
we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, *
O Son of God, O Giver of Life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.

The life of Christian worship is found in the cross. The cross paved the way for every follower. Our journey is defined in carrying the Cross. Our mortal life ends in an act of surrender to the Cross. In our gatherings, the cross leads our worship in and out to show that our life is one that chases the Cross in all things.
All Things Come from God
As we bring the gifts of the people forward, we remind ourselves that every gift we give is a gift given to us by God. This idea encapsulates the generosity of our Lord, who calls us to give as we have received.
